Svein Olsen

Svein Olsen has a technical and economic background. Mr. Olsen was active within the offshore industry for more than 40 years, with experience from contracting activities in Iran, North Sea, Nigeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, Mexico and India, mainly related to Floating Production, Storage & Offloading Systems (FPSOs).

Following his engagement in Norsk Hydro’s start-up of drilling activities in the North Sea, he moved to Tehran in 1975 for a 3 year period, representing foreign service and drilling contractors in a rapidly expanding market.

Late 1978 Svein Olsen returned to Norway, and became a pioneer in the development of ship based production and storage systems. Associated with his engagement in bringing the Norwegian offshore contracting industry into new market places, activities and positions have included the initiator role and CEO positions in Tentech International, Fred.Olsen Production (Yinson), Bergesen Offshore / BWOffshore, and Aker Floating Production.

Svein Olsen’s responsibility entails contracting and operational management of 8 FPSOs, 3 FSOs and 1 production jack-up.

As a result, Svein Olsen accumulated elaborate knowledge of international affairs, local conditions and thresholds to master, political issues and local contents, especially as relevant for West Africa and Mexico, where he is currently involved in projects offshore.
